Common 3D Printer Problems We Fix

Most service calls fall into a handful of categories: laser or optics degradation on SLA/SLS systems, resin vat or build-chamber contamination, drive-motor and extruder wear on Fortus FDM machines, and calibration drift after a move or long idle period.

If your printer is producing failed prints, throwing error codes, or running slower than spec, our technicians diagnose the root cause on-site rather than replacing parts by guesswork.

For a full troubleshooting walkthrough, see our guide: How to Fix a Broken 3D Printer: A Guide to 3D Printer Repair

Pivot AM’s trained field service technicians work out of offices across East, Central, and Western USA and Ontario, Canada, with both scheduled repair and next-day service available.

If your machine is down, request a quote for a typically faster, more cost-effective option than OEM service. Need to move a machine instead of repairing it in place? We also handle 3D printer relocation and appraisals. See what other customers say in our testimonials.

3D PRINTER REPAIR SERVICES

Cost depends on the machine type and failure. A laser or optics issue on an SLA/SLS system typically costs less than OEM replacement parts, while Fortus FDM repairs vary by component. Request a quote for a specific estimate. Our pricing is typically more cost effective than OEM service contracts.

Most on site repairs are completed in the same visit once parts are confirmed in stock. Pivot AM holds the largest spare parts inventory in the Americas for legacy SLA/SLS systems. Next day service is available for urgent downtime.

It depends on your warranty terms and whether the machine is still under an active OEM contract. See our full FAQ page for a detailed answer, or ask your Pivot AM technician to review your specific situation.

3D Systems legacy SLA machines (Viper, SLA 3500/5000/7000, iPro 8000), SLS systems (2500+, HiQ, Vanguard, sPro 60/140/230), and Stratasys Fortus FDM production printers.

For most legacy SLA and SLS systems, repair is significantly cheaper than replacement, especially with parts already in stock. If a machine is truly end of life, read our used SLA printer options or request an appraisal before deciding.

Yes. Legacy machine support is Pivot AM’s specialty as a 3D Systems Authorized Partner. We carry parts and expertise for systems the OEM no longer prioritizes.
