The Faulhaber 2224U024S RL 0314 is the motor used in the drive block of the Fortus 400mc. It powers the drive block that pushes filament from the material canister through the filament path toward the print head.
Fortus machines use two motors to move filament from the canister to the tip: one at the drive block and one at the print head. The drive block motor handles the first stage of that path. When it weakens or fails, filament doesn’t feed consistently, and the printer throws extrusion errors or pauses the build.
Why Stratasys Says the Motor Can’t Be Replaced Alone
Stratasys has told customers that the motor must be replaced as part of the complete filament drive because alignment is required to get the motor running correctly, and that this alignment can’t be done in the field.
In our experience, this is not a reason to replace the entire assembly. There is no fixed replacement interval for a Fortus drive block motor. How long it lasts depends on how many hours the machine runs, the materials you print, and how often the drive block has to work against jams or wet filament.

What “Off Service Since December 2024” Means for the Fortus 400mc
When Stratasys says the Fortus 400mc is off service, it means the OEM has ended its standard support for the machine. According to Stratasys’s product lifecycle classification, the Fortus 360mc and 400mc reached end of sale on February 18, 2016, and service contracts are no longer available.
